His musical career started at the age of 13 by studying saxophone and in 1974 he began to study music at the Brabants Conservatory in Tilburg, the Netherlands. His professional career began in 1976 when he was asked to join the 'Gemeentereinigingsorkest Vaalbleek; a band led by bassplayer/pianist/composer Niko Langenhuijsen.From the very beginning in 1977, Paul started to set up his own bands / projects , playing his compositions.
